Gathering Leaves

Spades take up leaves
No better than spoons,
And bags full of leaves
Are light as balloons.

I make a great noise
Of rustling all day
Like rabbit and deer
Running away.

But the mountains I raise
Elude my embrace,
Flowing over my arms
And into my face.

I may load and unload
Again and again
Till I fill the whole shed,
And what have I then?

Next to nothing for weight,
And since they grew duller
From contact with earth,
Next to nothing for color.

Next to nothing for use.
But a crop is a crop,
And who's to say where
The harvest shall stop?

I love those pictures! His expressions are adorable! I like the lighting in them too.

We aren't in the season for fallen leaves (snow on the ground and bare trees here in Wyoming), so it was a nice "vacation" to visit your blog!

Hello!
I didn't see an email listed, so I'm posting here...

Just taking a moment to stop by and thank you for stopping by Crafty Crow to sign up for the Usborne Books drawing.

You are welcome to stop by monthly at www.UsborneConnection.com and sign up for my monthly $50 Usborne drawing.

How did you find out about Usborne Books?

Do you have Usborne in your family library?

Would you like to get Usborne Books for FREE by hosting an online eShow? (Okay, trick question, but you can answer anyway ;-)

May I add you to my online newsletter list? You’d get updates on new titles, literacy info and the like.

I noticed that sewing in a zipper is on your list. Good luck with that. Zippers, today, are the bane of my existance. Let's just say that zippers and I aren't exactly friends, right now. ;-)

I look forward to your reply.

Sincerely,
Tressa Book Nut Nelson
