It's made out of 100% cotton yarn (Peaches & Creme, in Sea Mist), but I think I will make the rest of the hats out of regular old baby acrylic, which I think is actually softer. It was a super quick pattern though, and I expect that I will use it again.
I used most of the rest of the ball up making a poncho for Sabrina's O.G. doll. This is the same pattern that I want to make Abbi's poncho out of, so I wanted to try it out and see if I could read the pattern easily enough. It went off without a hitch, so I'm good to go! I bought the yarn for her poncho today. It's Caron's Simply Soft Eco in Mulberry Mist.
